What is Macromedia Flash Media Server
Macromedia Flash Media Server(FMS) allows you to stream Audio/Video over the internet. Apart from streaming you can design communication application like Private Chat, Chatter Box, Video Messaging, Multiplayer Games and Multiple Chat Environment.
To able to write program in Flash Media Server you should have knowledge of Action Script 2.0+ Programming. The figure shows the typical structure of a 3 Tier Application using Flash Media Server.
Macromedia Flash MX 2004 and Macromedia Flash 8 offers Net Connection Class to connect to remote servers from Flash. Depending upon the programmers logic and the structure of your application the FMS may communicate with the database to store details.
Flash Remoting is another technique for communication between servers. It acts as a gateway and once the connection is established you can pass any amount of the data to the server. So there will be only one connection call and this connection will remains until the connection is closed or one of the reciever/sender is shutdown/restart or connection lost due to some technical reason.
